In order to enrich students' English learning life, create a strong English learning atmosphere, exercise students' oral English level, cultivate their critical thinking and problem finding ability, International School held weekly English corner activity, which was carried out online due to the epidemic situation. Teacher Kaniet participated in the activity with some students from International School.
During the activity, teachers and students exchanged their views and experiences around the theme of What's your opinion?
For the first topic, Kaniet chose a lighter one -- Which one makes a better pet, cats or dogs? Kaniet first expressed his opinion that he prefers dogs, then shared his experience with dogs and embarrassing situations with cats. Kaniet burst out laughing at some of the interesting things his classmates had to say.
The second topic was about which is more important, money or time. Kaniet first asked the students to express their opinions, and most of the students chose time as the more important one. Kaniet listened patiently and added his opinions in time.
The third topic was whether we are too dependent on technology. Kaniet said he was worried about the future of society, because most of human work now depended too much on technology. Some students proposed a different point of view: Technology enables us to overcome the barrier of distance and continual learning. Kaniet also agreed. Taking our online English corner as an example, technology did help human beings.
The fourth topic was "Should Cyclists be Fined for Using Their Phones?" Kaniet shared some of his own experiences in China and asked his students to pay attention and obey the traffic rules.
At the end of the event, Kaniet said:"I encourage more students to join us and state your opinion. Every opinion counts and every thought counts.”
