In order to improve the Students' English ability and enhance their interest in learning English, the School of Foreign Languages Studies invited foreign teacher Kaniet to conduct 7 “English Corner” activities.
On 26th November, the 5th activity themed “Debate” was carried out smoothly. Kaniet introduced a series of topic for students to be familiar with debating. From the topic Should cell phones be banned during class to Which is more important, money or love?, with personal choices and values, students dig deeper into their own thinking as Kaniet constantly threw out new questions.
On 1st Dec, the foreign teacher Kaniet met with the students on the sixth “English Corner” activity. The theme of the activity was “Relationship”. Kaniet led the students to rank the importance of various relationships within ordinary life and discussed with them in groups from both positive and negative sides. He also put forward many valuable suggestions for maintaining a good relationship, for instance, not care too much about other people's opinions and not be constrained by various social relationships.
On December 8, the final “English Corner” activity was held successfully. The students discussed “Peer judgement pressure”at three aspects of “What are the effects of peer pressure on life”, “How does peer pressure occur” and “How to reduce the bad influence of peer pressure on us” . He emphasized that we must build a deep and comprehensive understanding of ourselves and learn to accept and solve problems.
The enthusiastic and free discussion atmosphere of this term’s activities have attracted students to participate, which not only exercised their oral expression and communication skills, but also promoted the improvement of their critical thinking skills.
