The 4th ‘ NAU English corner’ was successfully held ! This time, Kaniet, with students from different majors started a new topic about language learning which besets almost all the learners.
After a brief preamble, Kan collected several self-valuations on English from students. Most of them evaluated themselves at a proper or even poor level and found the common problem in speaking.
To find out the prime speaking problems, Kan asked students to talk about the difficulties they met before. Not surprisingly, vocabulary is a common trouble that almost all the students mentioned it as the major one. Hard translation between Chinese and English was mentioned by more than three person for their lack of grammar and words. Some personal ideas such as boring learning and pronunciation without stress and tone are also pointed out additionally.
Then Kaniet grouped the students into four teams with the questions ‘What is your learning problem and how to solve it?’ After 15-minute discussion ,each group gave their thought. Jerry, one of the students, referred to his own effective method which is to set up a immersive learning environment. For example, he listens to the pop music and watches movie. English is be requested to speak by himself in the daily life as often as he can. These actions help him own an authentic pronunciation. Kan gave high price to this solution and appeal to others to use it.
At the end of the communication, Kaniet concluded today’s solution and warmed up the topic of next time.
