2021.03.29

On the afternoon of March 27th, the institute invited journalist Wan Chengpeng from Xinhua Daily to give a lecture themed "Topic Selection and Shooting Skills of News Photography" to teachers and students of the institute.

Journalist Wan Chengpeng hoped to explain the elements and shooting skills of good news photography to teachers and students by showing his daily work photos.

First, Wan Chengpeng showed the teachers and students a group of photographs of movement and still, near and far, virtual and real, stressing the need to learn to use different perspectives, different lenses, and be constantly familiar with the shooting equipment.

Next, Wan Chengpeng showed the important position of conception in photography. He said that shooting photos was sometimes like filling in the blanks —— filling in the necessary elements and eliminating the unnecessary contents.

Then, Wan talked about the professional ethics and bottom line as a reporter—— to maintain the authenticity of reporting and photography, to be a record of urban construction, to be a record of human changes, to give full play to the power of media positive communication and positive guidance.

Finally, Wan Chengpeng played some relevant videos of the anti-epidemic workers and pictures produced by him, and told the stories behind the videos and photos, so that teachers and students could obtain a more practical and deeper understanding of documentary journalism, the sense of responsibility and mission of journalists. Journalist Wan Chengpeng also encouraged students to learn to use photography to convey information and ideas, and to have the opportunity to become "the conscience of the journalism industry".
