Teachers from NAU and SKEMA Together Present a Computer Programming Practice Class

2021.06.01

Recently, the institute's teacher Dr. Zhu Yi from NAU and Dr. Usharani Hareesh Govindarajan from SKEMA presented a computer programming practice class for the course "Advanced Computer Business Applications" together.

Using Microsoft Excel Macros, VB Programming, and Userform, the two teachers wrote a Tic Tac Toe computer mini-game, in order to guide students through a flexible application of multi-platforms to achieve a programming target that is difficult to be achieved on one single platform.

Before the class, Dr. Zhu Yi and Dr. Usharani Hareesh Govindarajan frequently exchanged their ideas in seminars.

Dr. Usharani Hareesh Govindarajan made a video to illustrate the case study of the class.

According to Hareesh:

"This video is a part of the lecture with an in-depth case study analysis on the project Tic-Tac-Toe, which is created using Microsoft Excel Macro, VB Programming, and Userform. Here, we recreate the famous Tic Tac Toe game using the Userforms in Excel and use the VBA programming to give it functionalities. The aim is to demonstrate Excel's distinguished ability in Advanced Computer Business Applications. The same project can be created in other programming languages, but it requires understanding another platform for Graphical User Interface (GUI). Interestingly, this is not the case with Microsoft Excel because it provides an integrated platform for programming and designing the user interface."

Students of the institute showed great interest and actively participated in the class.
