2021.11.12

In order to create a strong English learning atmosphere, International Joint Audit Institute  and the School of Foreign Languages Studies invited foreign teacher Kaniet to conduct the third English Corner activity which topic was Procrastination.

The activity  started from a question raised by Kaniet, “Do we realize that procrastination exists  in our daily life?”Kaniet confessed that he was deeply troubled by procrastination. The students talked about their own experiences of procrastination ——Some said the reason for procrastination stemmed  from the boredom of the task itself, while others said social network was too tempting to unknowingly waste time. Kaniet concluded, This is caused by our inadequate ability to balance things. People sometimes overestimate  their own efficiency.

Kaniet then divided the students into two groups: Procrastination Group and Experts Group to discuss Why I Procrastinate and How to Solve Procrastination. After a 15-minute group discussion, the Procrastination  Group took the lead in asking questions to the Experts Group. They kept throwing out examples of their own procrastination in life, such as homework delay, project delay, etc. While the Experts Group asked the questions by assuming the identity of If I were a professor. The four experts gave various suggestions, such as arranging each task in advance and rejecting some unreasonable or non-urgent things.

At the end of the activity, Kaniet showed the reasons for the delays and solutions he collected, and put forward seven specific requirements to guide students to manage time. He emphasized that to avoid procrastination, one needed to actively plan his or her  time and give up unimportant things. He also reminded students, “Many things and tasks will ‘steal’ your time. The teacher may temporarily help you reduce the burden, but it was impossible to do so all the time.  For the following days, you have to learn to self-manage and be on time, which also make the process more valuable.
